$37 million in stimulus funding is coming to Maine. How much and how will that money be spent for energy efficiency, weatherization and green building in Maine communities and businesses? View Speaker Presentations

Going Green to Stay in the Black: A New Decade of Energy Efficiency an Green Building sponsored by Maine Partners for Cool Communities will be held Thursday January 21, 2010 at USM’s Glickman Family Library from 6 – 8:30pm. 

“We are on the cusp of building a Green Economy right here in Maine. The choices and policies we will make will be far reaching. Attendees can learn about programs in the works that will save money by making our existing building stock more efficient and creating a green building industry”, Glen Brand, Sierra Club. 

Nine million dollars have been allocated for a no-low income weatherization program. Sam Nutter from the Massachusetts-based company The Conservation Services Group (CSG), contracted to assist with this program, will address the training and project goals for weatherization. Conservation Services Group (CSG) has pioneered promoting energy efficiency, conservation, and clean energy technologies that are helping consumers save money as well as protecting the environment since 1984.

Glen Brand, National Director for Sierra Club’s Cool Cities program, Lita Semrau and Andy Hyland of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Maine Chapter will speak about the two organizations’ collaboration across the country and how and why green buildings can become part of the landscape in Maine.

John Brautigam, Director, Efficiency Maine will present an overall review of the state’s current and planned programs that will save energy, benefit the environment, and create lasting economic benefits for the people of Maine.
