Maine Partners for Cool Communities

Town Manager, Catherine Conlow, said “adopting this agreement is the first step in researching ways to reduce the town’s carbon footprint.”

The town council also voted to form an ad hoc ”Cool Cities Committee”.  The Cool Committee’s charge is to explore and make recommendations for policies and initiatives related to the reduction of carbon emissions, energy conservation, and reducing the town’s overall environmental impact.  Orono resident Farahad Dastoor chairs the committee and Sierra Club members Ronald and Shirley Davis are to serve on the Cool Committee as well.
